Davao has been surprisingly delightful when it comes to food and dining. One place that I am glad we discovered is The Vegan Dinosaur.
Okay, okay. Based on my first two sentences, this is going to be a good review. What can I say?! I am somewhat partial to vegan restaurants but this one is extra special.
First, let’s talk about their offerings. They have variety. They have salads, pasta, burgers, tacos, sandwiches, rice bowls, buddha bowls and desserts. Their prices are reasonable. Mostly are under 300 pesos.
Second, the interiors and ambiance. The place is very instagramable inside and out. I love the country feel together with the cute touches of dinosaur. I also love the sayings they put all throughout the place.
Third, the food. We ordered the Tofu Buddha Bowl, the Pulled Jackfruit and Beans Rice Bowl, and the Yes! Cheese Burger.
The Tofu Buddha Bowl (280 PHP) has greens, cucumber, tomatoes, corn and of course tofu. The star is the teriyaki sauce. Sweet and savory. It lends a yummy barbeque taste to the dish.
The Pulled Jackfruit Rice Bowl (280 PHP) is the least favorite of the three dishes. It was vey hefty with the red rice, beans and corn, salsa, slaw and jackfruit “pulled pork”. I mean all the components are tasty but I was expecting more jackfruit and less of the other stuff.
My favorite is the Yes! Cheese Burger (260 PHP) . The chickpea patty is flavorful. Not starchy at all. Just the right texture. Not meat-like but definitely not bread-like. The mustard and sunflower cheese lends itself to the burger. It gives it a cheesey and tangy layer to it.
The Vegan Dinosaur is a must-try for vegans, vegetarians, the health-conscious and anyone who loves good wholesome food.
The Vegan Dinosaur is located at Values School, Door A, Ruby St, Poblacion District, Davao City, 8000 Davao del Sur.
